The Chest of Joash

Over this series, we’re going to talk about vision—not just where we’re going as a church, but how God invites His people to take part in His work.

Last year, we set aside one Sunday we called Vision Sunday. This year, we’re doing something intentional—we’re establishing Vision Sunday as the last Sunday of February every year. And this three-week series is designed to lead us there.

A couple of weeks ago, our church voted on an annual budget. That budget matters. It supports the everyday ministry, the ongoing care of our facilities, and the work God has already entrusted to us. Some of it is very practical—lights, water, staff, ministry tools. And some of it is very faith-driven—because even though it’s planned, the provision only comes as God’s people give.

And that’s by design.

God doesn’t need our money—but He invites our participation. He owns the resources, but He chooses to work through His people. Planning, giving, serving—those are not burdens. They’re privileges.

I’ve often said, anything worth having is worth working for. And if it’s not worth working for, it’s not worth having.

Over the next three weeks, we’ll look at how God stirred the hearts of His people in Scripture—not to pressure them, but to invite them into something meaningful. This series will culminate on Vision Sunday with a special offering, not to replace faithful giving, but to fuel the vision God has placed before us.

Our prayer is simple: that God would give us willing hearts—to see clearly, give faithfully, and move forward together.
